5 GOLDEN RULES FOR SUCCESS IN ANY BUSINESS: PART 4 OF 5.

Dear friends, welcome back. In this fourth installment of the 5-part series, I will share with you the fourth golden rule for success in any business.

Let’s go through the previous three, and they were:

1. See More People

2. See More People

3. See More People

Now, the 4th Golden Rule for success is:

4. Know the Law of Averages. When you know the law of averages, the battle is half won. Let me give you an example, when you sat for an examination last time, did you bother to find out the rules and marking criteria? Of course!

And why did you do so? Because you wanted to be exam-smart. Wouldn’t you be able to score better if you knew the rules and how the game of examinations was played?

Now, from the last three posts, I have already shown you that you need to see more people, over and over again. When you see a lot of people, or call many leads, you would be able to compile some statistics on yourself.

Understanding these statistics would help you understand your business better. I’m sure many of you might have heard that in order to get 1 successful customer, you need to approach 10.  And a success rate of 3 out of 10 already puts you in the league of a super salesman!

Understanding these statistics would also maintain your faith in your business, because you no longer feel dejected when you are rejected. It’s all part of the game.

The late Mr Jim Rohn once commented that even though he knew that 9 out of 10 would reject his sales, he approached 10 because he wanted that 1 special customer. And he wanted that 9 others just to be in the crowd, should they change their mind.

How about you? Do you have the same positive thinking?

So the first step is to compile your statistics, from the number of calls you make, to the number of presentations that you got, to the number of actual sales. It may look like this.

Appointments to Watch Presentations: 10

Get really Excited about Presentation:   6

Really Buy your Product:                        3

Diamond Customers:                     1. (of the other 2, 1 will leave, and 1 will become consumer)

Once you see this, you know that to get 100 satisfied customers, you need to reach out to 1000. And it will work.

Cheers!
Mark
